This one started personally.
As the primary cook and bottle washer in my own home, I wanted something that actually belonged in my kitchen. Herbs and spices felt like the right language. Basil, rosemary, ginger, star anise, garlic, vanilla, cinnamon and more, all observed and drawn the way I draw everything, one careful line at a time.
Then came the hidden friends. My usual cast of bugs, bees, and the occasional bit of toilet paper didn’t quite fit. Nobody wants bugs in their kitchen. Shudder. So I started over with a whole new crew, friends that belong in a kitchen. Mostly. There are always a few surprises that find their way in regardless.
